"Just think ... free designer fabric and an invitation to design something, make a tutorial and share it with the blogging world ... pretty much my idea of heaven these days!  First off, I just need to say a massive Aussie thank you to Kym at Fabric Fascination and Totally Tutorials for selecting me as one of 5 bloggers who were able to choose some designer fabrics in exchange for a free blog tutorial.  The fabric bundle I chose was the Valori Wells Nest fabrics, which came with a 1/2 yard of the Paisley, and a 1/2 yard of the Birds.   The moment I saw these fabrics online my creative juices started going overtime, and I fluctuated with ideas from something to go in the girl's rooms, to clothing, to bags and back again.  Luckily, living in Australia I had a bit of time to think and ponder before my fabric arrived this week.  When I saw and touched and measured, my mind was made up.  I decided on a little pinafore dress for Hannah, and some accessories to go with it.  I kind of made a few parts up as I went along to try and showcase the fabric as best I could, and the accessories were definitely an afterthought, but I just went a little crazy over this fabric".... It fit the neck pillow perfectly but I forgot to take into consideration that the neck pillow is filled with polystyrene balls that mould to your neck and are nice and squidgy  My well fitted cover did not allow the balls to move so it was as hard as a rock! Not want you want on a long haul flight. In hindsight, using a stretch fabric would have been better but I really wanted to use fabric that I already had in my stash. The next version worked so much better but is not as pretty due to the slightly baggy cover required. I think of it more as a pillow case for your neck pillow. At least the colour is better and it can be easily removed for laundering".... Read more

Hurricane Sandy...

Prayers to all in New Jersey and New York and everyone in the path of Hurricane Sandy. This is a massive storm of over 1000 miles wide. We live on the southern coast of Rhode Island and flooding along the coast of our town has already started. We are about 5 miles from the coast and not in the flood zone, but power outages are pretty much expected.

Tool Time Tuesday...Coat Hook Fix

Happy Tuesday!! I've been doing a little "deep" cleaning before the holidays. You know closet clean outs, going through fall and winter coats, under the bed dust bunnies etc.

Since the weather is changing in our area, I've noticed we have more coats out of the closets and onto the hooks in our back hallway. The hooks are great for the quick coat grab on the way out the door. Here is a picture of the hooks...no big deal, just hooks.

Abakhan Fabrics, Hobby and Home is offering a free 3 meter reel of holiday ribbon to up to 10 Totally Tutorials readers who are willing to create something utilizing the material. The recipients of the ribbon would then share how their project was done by posting a tutorial on their blog. Fear...

Blogging is a wonderful thing...you can write about anything and share it with anyone who is willing to read it. Sew Many Ways is about crafting, organizing and sewing, but the title does say "a place to find more than just sewing".  I have been writing Sew Many Ways for almost year 4 years. I have readers and friends from the very beginning and new followers even today. Most of you I have never met before, but just to let you know,  I write and post as I live my life... I always try to be optimistic, my glass is "always" half  FULL, I appreciate even the littlest thing I have in life. Being positive is pretty much how I "try" live my life.

"Try" is the word though. Am I always successful? NO, because fear can steal your positive in a second. What is fear exactly? According to dictionary.com, fear is...

"a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain etc., whether the threat is real or imagined..."

We all have fears. I can't even begin to write about fear itself and I won't even try...we all know deep down inside what we fear. Well, I had a little tiny fear get the best of me these past three weeks. Why am I sharing this with all of you? Because sometimes we need a kick in the pants, to wake us up to see that fear is just an emotion, mostly imagined...as described in the definition. An emotion that we can control or it will control us.
